BIOGRAPHY

Natalie Nelson is a mixed media sculptor who lives and works in Davis, California. She was born in San Jose, and attended college at UC Santa Cruz. Trained in art and art history, she took a long break from art-making while working at museums and galleries in the Bay area and Sacramento region.

Since 2014, she has taken workshops and community college classes in various art media and processes. The introduction to sculpture in one of those classes marked a transition from her work solely in painting and drawing, to making sculpture out of found objects. While she still creates drawings and collages, her main focus has been creating assemblages from various natural and manmade materials.

She has exhibited in the Sacramento/Bay Area region at various galleries such as Yolo Arts, Transmission Gallery, ArtSpace 1616, and Epperson Gallery. You can also find her working as the Director at Pence Gallery, a nonprofit art organization in Davis.
